  • Hi Darwin,

The best way to find out how the media player item works is to check out its documentation. Once you have added the media_player_mpy to your experiment's timeline, you can access its help page by clicking the question mark button in the top-right corner.

It should be pretty straight-forward as the media player items works just as any other item in OpenSesame.

    Good luck!

  • Hi,

I am also trying to insert a video clip in an experiment. So far, even though my layout is very basic, I haven't been able to make it work, I keep running into the same problem : 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0xd5 in position 1756: invalid continuation byte

Any advice would be most welcome !!

  • Hi @OpHenri,

That seems to be a unicode error, but it's quite weird to encounter this with video playback. Have you tried different video files as well, because I think it may be related to your video file being corrupt or incorrectly encoded.

Judging from the stacktrace that you added, this error originates in the VideoFileClip constructor in the moviepy libraries that the extension uses to play videos. If this is the case there is little that I can do about it, but suggest you try updating moviepy (see https://osdoc.cogsci.nl/3.3/manual/environment/ on how to do so) or ffmpeg (which is also provided by conda).
