Dear comunity.

Im changing from E-prime to opensesame and Im kinda new. I have an experiment where I want to present both words and audio sentences. Subjet's task is to sort them into 2 categories as fast as they can. The problem is that when the sound is presented it doesnt stop and sometimes it continues and overlaps with the next trial.

I have tried the 2 solutions suggested in the forum: scriptin the audio and inserting a new sampler with 0 volume.

In the scripting solution I haven't managed yet how to direct opensesame to the sound folder, and also I am not sure if the sounds will be presented in random order. With the new sampler It doesn't stop the sentence sound. I attached an image to depict my process.

I really hope someone would help me with this!

Hi,

for the scripting solution, you basically need to replace the sampler items with an inline_script and put this code to play:

src = pool[<soundfile_name>]
my_sampler = Sampler(src, volume=.5)
my_sampler.play()

and the second sampler (new sampler) with

my_sampler.stop()

This should do exactly what you want. If you files are in the filepool that Opensesame will find the files. You specify the files the exact same way as you do in the sampler item.
