Switching from OpenSesame to PsychoPy :(

Unfortunately, my University has decided that using OSWeb/JATOS is not a cost-effective options (IT charges the psychology department to host a server), so they're switching to PsychoPy/Pavlovia.

I currently have a fully-functioning OpenSesame experiment that I need to recreate in PsychoPy. Personally, I think OpenSesame is much easier and more user-friendly, but I don't have a choice. I was running the Psycho back-end in OpenSesame, so I was wondering if there is any way to see/get my experiment as Python code and export it to PsychoPy.

If not, I'll just have to learn how to use PsychoPy as well, I guess :(

  • Hi Elisabeth,

Unfortunately, that is not possible. You have to recreate the experiment again. Of course you can use your experiment as template, but most of the work is not transferable.

  • Hi @Eslifkin23,

You can carry on running tasks online with JATOS using Mindprobe, a service sponsored by ESCOP. Have a look at their website for information including terms of use: https://mindprobe.eu/

It's guaranteed to run until February 2022, and further depending on funding.

    Cheers,

    Fabrice.
