Stimuli and Primes displayed together.

Dear members of the group,

I am a beginner in the use of the OpenSesame software. Perhaps, the questions I am going to ask, have already been discussed before. Anyways...

For my experiment, I want stimuli and primes be displayed together, within the same turn. The idea is language switch.

Here are two problems that I have encountered:

  1. I have marked the places for primes and two stimuli in the sketchpad inside the sequence-loop. OS recognizes these marks and assigns the primes and stimuli with those marks. However, it works only for one turn, for the first set of primes and stimuli. When I press the button, the new set of primes and stimuli does not appear.
  2. I have set two buttons for the correct and incorrect choice. After pressing on each of them the new set of primes and stimuli suppose to appear. However, it does not. Looks like both key-buttons are not recognized as keys.

Please, could some of you help me to resolve these problems?

Regards, LL.

  • HI LL,

Can you share the experiment? Then I can help you I think. If not, can you explain what you mean with "second turn"?

  • Dear Eduard,

Thank you very much for response.

    Please, find the file attached.

    Thank you in advance,

  • When the first set of words appears ( one stimulus and two primes), it is the first turn. After the key button is pressed, the next set of words must appear. Thus, it is the second turn (when the informant makes the choice), and so on: the third, fourth etc. For every "turn" the set of words is different. Well, something like that...

  • I am not sure I understand. Is the problem that in every trial (loop iteration), you see both "from_german" and "from_english" sketchpads? if so, you need to specify in the run_if field of each sketchpad under which conditions you want to show the sketchpad. For example, it seems like the variable [status1] could be useful for it. ([status1 = 'from_english' in the display_from_English sketchpad, and accordingly in the sketchpad).

Responses seem to be recognized. At least, when I press them, stuff happens.

    Does that make sense?

  • Dear Eduard,

thank you so much for help! You were absolutely right about the connection of "From German" / "From English" and the [status]-column in the loop iteration. Thank you once again.

Just want to share with you the final version of the first part of the experiment. Please, find it attached.

    Sincerely and Gratefully,

    LL
