How to record a single key response on a single page for multiple time?
Hey !
I am trying to develop a time perception where I would like to record responses that have been done multiple time.
Experiment:
The subjects will receive an instruction that they have to press spacebar for particular period of time. While they press the spacebar they will see a fixation cross on the screen that wont change. I want to record their key press pace and want to analyze at what duration the key press pacing changes. For instance if they are asked to press the spacebar for 1 min I want to see how the key press pacing behaviour changes as the time elapses?
I had reviewed some of the discussions related to this problem but from my understanding I think I have a different issue.
The discussions I reviewed.
Can anyone please help me out in this?

Hi,
Do you want to measure the duration of the time that participants can keep on holding down the space bar? Or do you want them to repeatedly press during a minute, and count the number of times they pressed the space bar? In the second case, you can use the responses object: https://osdoc.cogsci.nl/3.3/manual/python/responses/
Or use inline_coding in which you implement a simple key stroke counter. Another alternative is to have a lot of trials (~1000) and let every key press be a trial. Then you see how many trials can be finished in a limited amount of time.
If you want to measure keypress down time, you can use the keyboard release function: https://osdoc.cogsci.nl/3.2/manual/python/keyboard/#function-keyboard46get95key95release404242resp95args41
