mouseclick response

Hi All,

I am having some unusual issues with my task. The way it is set is: a sequence of images is presented, character A appears and there is an audio of the character speaking, Character B appears followed by the audio. The participant has to choose which character described the scene best. So, simple enough.

My first issue that the mouse cursor is not visible on the target sketchpad, even though I have set in the mouseclick response to have a visible cursor. So the participant has to do a first click for the cursor to appear, then they can move it towards the chosen character. However, also here it is necessary to click twice in order to register the response. I am afraid this might all be too confusing for the average participant. How can I set the cursor to be immediately visible in the target sketchpad (I tried writing "set cursor visible yes" in the script window but it doesn't change)? And why does it them take two clicks to register the response and move to the next item?

Additional info: the timeout of my mouse response is set to infinite.

Thank you,

Marta

  • Update: the timeout for the mouse response for the issue and is now set to 0. That fixes the issue with the three clicks: now the first click shows the cursor, and the second one is the response.

But I have a new problem now: the mouse cursor appears on the sketchpad where the participants have to procede to the next item (they have to click on the next button), but, it is not visible not even after the first click on my target sketchpad (the one providing the response). This is problematic as the participants will not know where they are clicking, and it is overall confusing to have to still click twice but not knowing where.

Mouse responses on both sketchpads have the exact same setting (except to which sketchpad they are referring to of course), and it works very well for one and not the other.

Does anyone have insight on what the problem might be and how to fix it?

    Thank you

    Marta
