Files that I saved disappear or not able to open

Hi there,

I hope you can fix this as I am thinking of quitting JASP, I have lost several files because JASP did not save them, even when I had saved and renamed them.

Someone has taken a look at JASP files and said that the files were way too big and there could be some error in the code creating a never-ending loop which causes the files to be so big.

Please can you fix this as I can't afford losing my work, this is the third time it happened and I am set back several days of work now.

  • this is the message I got today

  • Also, some files that were saved were corrupted and I can't open them at all anymore, see error message.

  • Hi there, there's still abug in the programme that makes the files huge, and also some files I can't open anymore after I've closed them, resulting in lost work. Please can you help?

  • Hi Liesbeth

That is really strange. We are aware of some bugs that needlessly created large files, but not being able to open files you have created is a serious issue that we wish to resolve. But I am not the right person for this job -- this needs to be done by our programming team, and you can reach out to them through our GitHub page (https://jasp-stats.org/2018/03/29/request-feature-report-bug-jasp/). They will need to have some more information to help you effectively. We are about to release a new version so if we can iron out this issue that would be welcome.

    Cheers,

    E.J.

  • Hi Liesbeth,

Can you attach one of these jasp files either here or on GitHub? If you'd rather not post the data publicly, you can also email it to d.vandenbergh at jasp-stats.org.

    Cheers,

    Don

  • Thanks both I'll take a look at Github. I don't think I can send my dataset for data protection reasons but I'll see if I can think of something I'd be able to share that could be useful instead.
