[open] how to NOT wait for a keyboard response
Hello friends,
I'm attempting to create an RSVP experiment, in which subjects see a target image, and then a stream of additional images that match or do not match the target in some dimension. (Specifically, the target image contains an object and a context, and one image in the stream contains the same object and/or context, while the rest are different objects and contexts.) Where I'm getting stuck is how to collect a response. What I want to do is ask subjects to respond as soon as they see an image in the stream that matches the object and/or context of the target. However, I do not want any image to remain on the screen until a response is made. Ideally, I would like to set it up so that after the target image disappears, the program starts looking for a keyboard response, but presents the stream of stimuli as usual and merely records the time stamp of when a response was made regardless of when the response was made in the stream. As far as I can tell, my_keyboard.get_key() keeps the current stimulus on the screen until a response is made or it times out. But I want to bypass that aspect and continue to present stimuli until it recognizes a key press. Is this possible in OpenSesame?
Thanks in advance, and thanks for the great software!
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Yes, building an RSVP experiment is certainly possible! I think this discussion will help you get started:
