[open] media_player_vlc Duration in ms

edited December 2013 in OpenSesame

Hi all, thanks for the wonderful work that you are doing developing this platform for facilitating psychology experiments. I am a research assistant helping my professor to set up an experiment utilizing the media player, and I ran into some problems.

I would like to seek your kind advice on how I should go about resolving the following issue -

The default setting for 'Duration' of a media_player_vlc is "keypress", upon which the experiment goes on to the next item in the sequence. However, I wish to play a clip for a predetermined duration that is different from that of clip itself. I attempted to set the value of Duration to a value like "10000ms", but it turned out not to work as expected.

Can I ask if such a use of the 'Duration' field is supported? And is there something else that I should be doing?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Gabriel

    Hi Gabriel,

Please keep in mind that the preferred duration is indicated in seconds instead of milliseconds, so if you want to play a clip for 5 seconds just enter 5 in the duration field and not 5000.

Otherwise I am not really sure I understand your problem. Would you like to keep pausing the experiment for a certain duration even after the movie clip has finished playback? Could you please describe in a bit more detail what you are trying to do?
