Error: “Invalid path to video file: (file not found)”

Hi all,

Our experiment involves playing a number of video files for the participants within a loop. This loop is played four times, and each time, specific videos are selected from our file pool based on the conditions specified at the start of the loop. The picture I have attached to this post shows the crash of our experiment on the second iteration of the loop.

It is worthy of note that the video file that wasn't found on the second loop was actually played on the first loop.

While re-opening the program could initially resolve the problem, for the next participant, the same error occurred on the third iteration of the loop!

Now, we reinstalled the program and were able to run the full experiment once, without warning. However, we would still like to have further information on what caused this error so that we could prevent it in the future.

Has anyone come across this before? Any idea what can cause this?

Our configuration: Recently updated Windows 10 + latest OS version (v. 3.3.8)

  • Hi @Yeganeh ,

I'm assuming that you are using the media_player_mpy (and not the media_player_vlc) plugin. Is that correct?

I'm tagging @Daniel who developed the media_player plugins. Could you have a look at this question?

  • Hi Lotje,

Thank you for responding so quickly. Yes, we use the "media_player_mpy" plugin. Do we need to use the other one? On the frequency of this crash, I should also note that it has occurred 3 times in the last 8 sessions.

Also, our video pool has a size of around 105 mb. Would it help to put the videos in the local folder?

    Cheers,

  • Hi @Yeganeh ,

Would it be possible to share the experiment?

  • Hi @Lotje,

We were able to resolve this issue by placing the video files within the experiment's local folder instead of the file pool. There has been no error since then. Thank you for your assistance and support.

    Cheers,

    Yeganeh
