Backing up JATOS

Hello everyone!

Apologies if this is already posted in the forum.

I ran few studies using JATOS sever using digital ocean. Currently, I don't know how to back up my data that is there on my JATOS server. As I don't really need the server to be running I am thinking to stop the droplet I created on the digital ocean.

However, I am not able to understand how am I able to create a back of my data on JATOS?

Can anyone help me out!

Thanks

Vatsal

  • Hi Vatsal,

on DigitalOcean it's quite easy to backup: just do a snapshot of the whole droplet. In your Droplet's menu is a point 'Snapshot'. You can to it 'live', while your server is running or power down and then do the snapshot. The latter one is recommended to avoid data inconsistencies, but I often took them while the Droplet was one and had no problems so far.

After taking the snapshot you can destroy your Droplet (only turning off still cost you money) and when you need it again you recreate the Droplet from the snapshot.

    Best,

    Kristian
