Question about RM-ANOVA

Hi,

I am rather new to statistics. A question! When running a RMANOVA in JASP what does the "Between Subjects Effects" tell me (see below)? I this a default setting? Why is there no F-statistics of F-value. Happy if somebody could help me to better understand :-)

  • Hi @PerPalmgren,

The residual term there is the between subjects error term (i.e., unexplained sum of squares). There are no between subjects terms in the model, so this is the unexplained sum of squares based on just participant numbers. Together with the within subjects error term this forms the total error term in the model. This number typically is not very relevant, and we show it mostly for completeness' sake (and in keeping in line with R and SPSS).

    Cheers,

    Johnny
