Experiment fixation time depended
Hi!
I'm new to OpenSesame and so far I love it, it is really user friendly!
I am trying to write an eyetracking experiment which will be used to do research with infants.
About the experiment:
The goal is to find out if the participants (infants) perceive the difference between two sounds. The idea is that we register fixation as evidence of perceived difference and drifting as perceiving no difference (same sound is boring). In the habituation phase, the participant is exposed to a continuous sound (soundA) accompanied by a video of a talking or non-talking woman articulating that sound.
In the test phase, the participant will hear the same sound (soundA) followed by a different token of soundA ór soundA followed by soundB. During the test phase, the participant will see a checkerboard. Fixation on the same point on the checkerboard will be interpreted as perceiving a difference, drifting as perceive no difference.
What I want to do:
- I want to have the habituation phase continue until: the mean looking time of 3 successive trials =<50% of mean looking time 1st 3 trials (with a max of 15).
- I want to have the SoundA-SoundA and SoundA-SoundB stimulisets randomized, but with the trials always starting with S1-S1 S1-S2. After those 2, there should be 36 randomized stimuli (75% S1-S1, 25%S1-S2), with S1-S2 never appearing consecutively.
- I want to measure the mean looking times during every trials, I assume I can get that from the logger?
I tried to upload what I have so far but it's too big.
I hope I can get some advice! As I said, I am new to OpenSesame but very eager to learn. I also have to make an experiment with a gaze-triggered lookingwhile-listening paradigm which will be a challenge too. But first things first :)
Thanks!
