Sending triggers to Biosemi via Opensesame (version 3.3.10)
Hello everyone,
I've dedicated many hours in the past couple of weeks to be able to send triggers to our Biosemi system via Opensesame (system info is attached), but no luck whatsoever π
In the past, fellow researchers used e-prime to run EEG experiments and send triggers to Biosemi. They did so by interacting with the parallel port (a pic with the port's info is attached), via which the communication is established (a pic of that part in the e-prime script is also attached). Now, since we currently use Opensesame to run our experiments, I figured that we should sort out a similar arrangement for Opensesame.
I followed the tutorial in the Opensesame documentation for sending triggers via a parallel port, but I wasn't able to send triggers after all.. I browsed for posts in the forum and some of them mentioned that a few changes might be needed due to updated versions of Opensesame, Python or the Windows system? I'm not an expert, so I really didn't understand what exactly should be changed to make things work..
In some of my attempts I tried dragging certain driver files (.dll) into the Opensesame folder (like some of the users advised to do), but again nothing has changed..
When I run a simple experiment with the inline scripts provided in the documentation (a .osexp file is attached), error messages that indicate that no communication took place are printed..
We use ActiveView to monitor Biosemi (a pic is attached). If you take a look at the pic, triggers should appear right below the orange line at the bottom.
I'd be happy to get any help you guys can afford.. I'm able to provide any additional information that you deem important!
Thanks in advance!

Hi Spring,
As I ran my EEG experiments in a lab that was already entirely set up, I am not able to give you advice on what to check and what you should do specifically. However, I can share an experiment of mine, which also ran on a Win7 machine, with Opensesame 3.1. Maybe the settings there will be applicable to your case. The relevant code has 'trigger' in it. Hope it helps!
