Credible intervals

edited April 2022 in JASP & BayesFactor

Hello to everybody,

Can you please tell me how the 95% confidence intervals are calculated (Bayesian One Sample T-Test -> Additional statistics -> Descriptives)?

The reason I'm asking this question is because I can't figure out why changing the prior doesn't change the credible intervals. What prior is used to calculate the credible intervals?

Comments

  • Because it is Descriptives, we use a uniform prior here. This should be clearly indicated in the help file at least; I'll make an issue on our GitHub page

    Thank you!

As I understand it, I can get the credible intervals (in Cohen's d values) from the posterior probability plots (for non-uniform prior).

How can I convert these credible intervals to the raw values?

If it possible to get the table of credible intervals given a specific prior in the current JASP release?

P.S. Is it planned to add the highest density intervals in future releases?

  • These are a series of good suggestions -- a feature request on our GitHub page would be great! This is a very popular test so I'll bump the priority once I see the request. (could you make a single request per issue?)

    E.J.
