Video problems
Hi,
New to open sesame, but i could not find this a recent post on this specific issue. I am having a rather simple experiment in which 30 (10second) videos are shown randomly to participants, during which ECG is measured. I get it to work, but the videos are not fluent / they are lagging. So there seems to be a buffer issue/refresh issue? I just downloaded open sesame, so assume i am using the most recent version (on windows).
What is the best video format to use? And are there any other tips or suggestions? I moved away from eprime to OS, in order to avoid video issues, but currently i am not really happy yet!
Hope there is a solution!

Hi AnneMarije,
What is the best video format to use?
Intuitively, I would say avi is the most robust video format, but that is not really based on any evidence, as I haven't worked with a lot of videos in my experiments so far.
And are there any other tips or suggestions?
Usually things that might make a difference are indeed the video format, the backend (legacy, psychopy, pygame), or the video plugin. I suppose you use the media player? You can try the OpenCV implementation. So far I have made pretty good experiences with it.
I get it to work, but the videos are not fluent / they are lagging.
Does it make a difference how many of those you have in your pool? How large are the files? It might be a memory issue
