Hello forum,

I read the article entitled, "Bayesian Evidence Synthesis Can Reconcile Seemingly Inconsistent Results: The Case of Hotel Towel Reuse"(henceforth, article#1), and I've got a few quick questions:

1. Does the total Bayes factor (in this case, 36.89) refer to the complete Bayes factor mentioned in the article entitled, "Replication Bayes Factors from Evidence Updating"?
2. Does the Bayesian Evidence Synthesis method apply to t tests, ANOVA, regression, etc.?
3. Can the Bayesian Evidence Synthesis method combine the original study with its conceptual replication studies?
4. Is the article#1 the first article that proposed the Bayesian Evidence Synthesis method?

1. Yes, both are BFs based on all the data.
2. Yes.
3. Yes. Usually the question is whether the original study is sound. In that case you may wish to use the original data to construct a proponent's prior and contrast that with the point prior of a skeptic.
4. Evidence synthesis is just Bayesian updating applied to the level of individual studies, and this idea goes back many decades.
