Csv files in columns

Hi all

I am teaching OpenSesame in a university class. The version we use is 3.3.12

Most of my students' csv files when I double click on them appear in columns, seperated.

When I am opening the csv files all appear in one column, like in the figure attached.

(I know how to import the csv file and see the data in columns, I am just asking if I am missing something, some configuration in Excel perhaps?)

Thank you,

Fotis

  • Hi @fotisfotiadis,

This relates to you computer settings, it is not related to Open Sesame per se or to features of the csv file. It is most probably due to the regional settings on your computer. You're most probably using a regional setting where the comma is interpreted as the decimal place, unlike the USA/UK setting, hence when you double click on a csv file, Excel (or your spreadsheet software) interprets the comma as the decimal place and not as a value separator.

If so, you can fix this by changing your regional settings to English, like on mine (Windows):

Otherwise, the way to go is the one you already know in Excel:

    Hope this helps,

    Fabrice.

  • Yes, that was it.

    Thank you so much!
