Experiment died unknown problem

Hi all, 

I am running an experiment on opensesame and halfway through the experiment I get this error: 'opnsesame The experiment process seems to have died as the result of an unknown problem. This should not happen! This error occurred in the unknown phase of item unknown.

An ExperimentProcessDied is raised when the experiment process died. This is generally the result of a bug in one of the underlying libraries that causes Python to crash. This should not happen! If you experinence this error often, please report it on the support forum."

I wrote the experiment and it works on my computer and the lab computer. I tried to send it to two collaborators but it does not work for them. Could the new version of opensesame be the problem?

Could be. But without seeing the experiment and knowing the setup of your collaborators it is near impossible to know for sure. So I am a bit unsure how I can help you. Sorry,

I am having the same problem if I run my experiment with Experiment. I also tried it on a different computer, but I have the same issue. This problem always occur with a different trial. I tried to use PyGame but than I have the same issue. When I use PsychoPy I can run the full experiment, but than I get some weird reaction times (see photo). Is there something I can do to fix this issue?

Can you share a log file? Most likely this is due to how you import your logfile to excel or whatever software you use. When I tried your experiment myself, the logfile looks fine. Perhaps it helps to move the logger into the co-routine. I also noticed your co-routine is overly complex. In the attached example, I tried to simplify the first loop in the main loop. But not 100% sure that these changes make sense in light of your experimental goal.

Thank you for simplifying my experiment, it still works and it is easier to keep the overview. I've attached 2 logfiles because I made the task once with PsychoPy as back-end and once with Expyriment as back-end. When I import the logfile from csv to excel I do it for both files in the same way, but still the reaction times look different. When I place the logger inside the co-routine it only logs the last trial so that doesn't seem to work.

Hi,

both log files look good to me. When you import your data to excel make sure that you use the right characters for decimals and thousand separation. Dutch standard is . for thousands and , for decimals. Opensesame does the opposite (international standard)
