questions about Jatos with OpenSeasme
I have asked a question about Jatos earlier but I have more questions I cannot get clear answer from forums.
- First, I understand that Jatos does not have picture, video or audio limit. So therefore, If I understand correctly, there is no limit to also how many items can be seen in one experiment. In one link, participant can see up to 100 pictures along with corresponding audio if the browser, server or internet connection also. Same for video with audio (presented seperately or prejoined and uploaded) but there would less video items than pictures since the size is bigger. i hope this understanding is correct. But the details of the experiment would also matter to see what is limit. Is this correct?
- Is there a limit to number of participant whose results can be send to JATOS for each link? (I saw in one of the forum questions that there was limit to the number of participant, but there is way to customize. it was not clear in the forum how to do this). https://forum.cogsci.nl/discussion/6555/customization-of-the-maximum-number-of-workers-reached-screen
- I have a JATOs account using the ORICD account. Is there a limit to how many experiments I can have for each account? (I just created this new account and tested with just one pre-available experiment)
I am using OpenSeasme to create and downlaod the project and upload into JATOS. So far I have only been learning JATOS with premade OpenSeasme project. I only upload one successfully, but the eyetracking VisualWorld OpenSeame preavliable would not upload.
- Is there a reason it would not upload?
- I am having trouble finding OpenSeasome premade projects that use videos and audio. Would Anyone know if I can find such project or create one from template? I am having hard time getting started.
Thank you

Hi!
1) JATOS itself does not limit the download of files (for whatever file type, e.g. audio, video). But limitations arise from other sources, mostly, the resources of the host machine where JATOS is installed, the internet connection of your participants, the resources of your participant's machine. JATOS does have limits for result files, result data, and study archives, but as far as I understand your question this does not concern you.
2) Yes. It depends on the type of the study links. More information can be found in the documentation ( and ). From the docs:
Personal type links can be either Single or Multiple. You can find more details about them in the Worker Types page, but the gist is that the links are meant to be handed to individual workers (hence Personal). Personal Single links can be used once, whereas Personal Multiple can be used many times.
and
General type links can be either Single or Multiple. You can find more details about them in the Worker Types page, but the gist is that all workers (or at least many) get the same link (hence General). The General Single link can be used once whereas General Multiple can be used many times. Due to the nature of these types there is only one study link per type.
3) Where did you get your JATOS account? There is no one single JATOS instance. You can install your own JATOS somewhere you want, on your private server, in the cloud, at your institute. But JATOS does not have a limit for how many studies you can have for one account.
And about your OpenSesame questions, I would suggest to ask them in the OpenSesame forum, where the people have more experience with OS. OS also offers professional support.
Best,
Kristian
3. I created an account with mindprobe with ORCID account where I import a study available in openseseame to test and run by sending link for multiple general to run on different computers and i was able to get results back. But having trouble download the results in csv format.
The results for each time the link was run look like below for each run but can't download it in csv format for the full results not meta. Seems to be only avaliable in text format.
2.If I use the general multiple link, is there a limit to the number of participants that use this type of link? i would imagine not for the different number of partiicpant to use the same general multiple link. But might be problem to store allt hose results in JATOS. correct?
There is no limit in JATOS for the number of participants with the General Multiple link.
