I have experiment I created in openseasme and using JATOS to run it and create links. I used the automatic logging to get the variable and results. But there are two variables that I want to show up in the result file or are not showing up correctly but I cannot figure out why.


I want to show the individual participant id or number in the text or excel results file generate from OPENsesame. I see Jatos has a worker ID individual but this does not show up in the text file. And I also want to know if it possible to log when the audio ends. i can see that you can see when audio starts but I would like to see also when the audio ends in the experiment. How can I log these variables correctly?

  • I am using the General multiple link and running it on different computers at different times.

  • For example, I do not want the subj parity and 0,1 subject numbers. I want to the continuous subject numbers for each time the link is run. i only have one list. For example, subj_nr should be 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11....so on. or some other way to tell one individual participant from another when i download the data from JATOS.

    Do I understand correctly, you want the JATOS worker id inside the logfile? I believe something similar has been asked before, but I can't recall how. @Fab do you?

    There is no dedicated time_item_stop variables in Opensesame. That information is implicit in the start of the next item. So take the difference between start_sound and start_next_item to have the duration. However, this only works if you set the duration of the the sampler to sound if you proceed with the experiment while the sound is still playing, there is no way, to find out how long it lasted, as far as I know.

  • yes, Either the individual id of participants from JATOS or have OpenSeasme generated individual participant number to tell easily in the data file which participant number I am looking at. Right now Openseasme generate odd and even with 1 or 0 this is very confusing and its not looking correct in the data file. I do not want this. I want individual participant numbers in the data file

  • I think i figured it out. If in opeseame when uploading to osweb/ jatos control panel, leave the particpant number blank, it showed the jatos number in excel result file.

  • Hi, great you found a way. I just want to add that when you export your result data from JATOS (one of the result pages) and use the "JATOS Results Archive" (the fist one in the dropdown list if you press on "Export Results"), they come with all the metadata and those include the workerId that you need.

  • I knew about that. but we might have to muliple partiicpants with multiple projects. I think this might cause confusion and mistakes.
