Problems with collecting accurate RT

Hi all, this is my first time posting in this forum. Any help is appreciated.

In our experiment, we are doing an auditory version of an AX-CPT task. The layout of the task goes as such:

  • Two transition screens before the onset of the cue.
  • The cue, with a 2200ms duration
  • The probe with a duration of 0ms
  • The response (keyboard response) with a timeout of 3000ms.

We have unchecked "flush pending key events" and in our data, we are able to see what keys participants are pressing at any point in the trial. If a participant responds during or after the probe, we also get accurate RT. However, if a participant responds during the cue, we are not able to get accurate RT, and instead get some kind of decimal number. Are there any suggestions you might have on how to collect an accurate RT that counts from the beginning of each trial to the timeout of the response, or at least counts accurate RT during the cue?
