different t-test results with 2 researchers, same data

Finishing my qual study, I wanted to re-run the independent samples t-test for presentation. Mine says now t= 1.253 whereas before and from my other colleagues, it was t= - 1.253.

All the other stats are the same except for this 'minus' result.

I re-uploaded the data, checked everything and it comes back as the same a plus value when it was minus before!

What is going on?!

  • just means that they did group2 minus group1 and you did group1 minus group2. This is inconsequential. Same p-value, same conclusion, same difference being tested, etc.
