"NA" showing as a form response?

Hi! New to Opensesame here and having a bit of a problem.

I'm trying to make an experiment wherein 5 words are chosen from a list, shown to the participant, and then they are later shown 4 words and asked to choose which they saw previously. I have made it most of the way (I think!) but am encountering this in the logged file:

Where the first output for form_response is NA, the second is the answer to the first question, the third the second, and so on. Essentially, every logged response is offset by 1, and I'm losing the last answer? Can anyone help with this? I'll paste a screenshot of the order of items below.

Hopefully someone can help! Thank you in advance!

  • Hi @evanderlism,

This common issue typically arises from how and when the data is logged. From your screenshot, I see that the logger item ('new_logger') is placed before the 'test' item. This means that on the first trial it would log NA, on the second trial it would log the response from the previous trial, etc.

This is why you should instead place your logger item after your variables of interest i.e., at the end of your 'test_sequence'.

    Hope this helps!

  • @cvanbuck !

Thank you so very much - immediately sorted! I knew it would be something tiny like that! Perfect. You're a legend :)
