The filter is not working

Hey, I've been trying for over an hour without success to apply a filter. I want to use only two levels from a variable that has four levels. When I uncheck the filter option for these levels in the Label Editor, the corresponding cases in the dataset do not turn grey. When I go to the general filter, it shows at the top of the row that the filter has been generated, but the filter still doesn't work. If I try to create a filter manually and apply it, there’s no error message, but the filter still doesn’t become active. I'm using Windows, and JASP is up to date. I’ve also tried reopening the program, but that didn’t help either. What could be the issue or what should I do? I'm a beginner with JASP, but I've followed instructions from online videos.

Please help 😔

Thanks already,

Rina

  • Do you have a screenshot?

    Hey,

yes, here are two screenshots. I've added a few labels to make things clearer. In the first image, I tried to remove the unnecessary levels from the filter, but as you can see, they’re not greyed out. When I then try to run an independent samples t-test, JASP still tells me it’s not possible because there are 4 levels.

In the second screenshot, you can see the general filter. As shown, the filter to exclude the levels was generated, but the corresponding rows are still not greyed out. I had previously created a filter for age (which you can also see in the screenshot), and that one works. However, it doesn’t seem to be an issue with the 'Gender' variable specifically, because when I try the same thing with another variable, it doesn’t work either.

  • Are you already discussing this with the programming team on GitHub? Because it starts to look like an issue for them...
