my JASP projfect doesn't open

edited May 28 in JASP & BayesFactor

Hello everyone,

I've been working on my master thesis for months, doing all analyses in JASP. Everything is saved in one project, all analyses.

Last time I opened it a week ago. Today I am trying to open it again and it doesn't open...

'Loading JASP file' is showing on my screen, but nothing happens. Restarting the program or restarting the laptop didn't help. It does open other excel files or other saved projects. But I, of course, need that one particular project, cause all my analyses are there, with all extra filters etc. I can't start over, I've been working on this since january..

I'm starting to panick, to be honest.

How can I solve this? Pls help

  • Did you fix your problem yet? If not, I suggest you file a ticket on GitHub, the dev team is generally pretty responsive: https://github.com/jasp-stats/jasp-issues/issues/new?template=bug-report.yml (you need a free GitHub account)

If you've updated JASP since you last successfully opened the file (I don't think so based on what you wrote), you could try reverting back to an older JASP version. Previous JASP versions are available for download here: https://jasp-stats.org/previous-versions/

  • Thanks for the tips!

I indeed have updated my JASP, but I will try installing the old version again.

  • This has been known to happen when .jasp files grow very large and contain very many analyses -- it then becomes an issue of system resources. I strongly recommend the GitHub route! Keep us posted how you are doing please.
