using OpenSesame gaze contingency pluginsto analyze eye-tracking data from E-Prime?
Hi, I have already programmed my study and collected data using E-Prime - however, I am hoping to add an eye-tracking component to the research. I was thinking about buying the tobii 4C camera as a cheap-ish eye-tracking camera, but it is meant for gaming, and doesn't include analysis software. First, I am wondering if I can use the OpenSesame eye-tracking plugins (and specifically the Gaze Contingency Plugins for AOI - areas of interest) to analyze data collected from use with E-Prime somehow, and second, if you think they will work with the tobii 4C camera specifically.
Another possibility... tobii has created a gaze overlay to work with the camera that I THINK allows you to record a gaze overlay along with the screen content (http://developer.tobii.com/community/forums/topic/streaming-recording-with-tobii-gaze-overlay/). Do you think it would be possible to use this information to create some kind of AOI analysis?
Any suggestions/info would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
It seems that you're confusing the experiment (data collection) and data analysis. The gaze-contingency plugins are part of the experiment. (They're also heavily outdated, but that's another issue.) You're looking for something to analyze data from an experiment that has already been conducted. Right? Or not?
Perhaps you can explain your situation a bit more clearly. Do you already have eye tracking data, or not? Do you want to continue using E-Prime (which is fine, of course, but means that you cannot use OpenSesame's eye-tracking functionality)? Or is your question only about data analysis?
Cheers,
Sebastiaan

Thank you for your prompt reply! I haven't completed data collection - I was hoping to continue using E-Prime, but incorporate eye-tracking for future data collection. So basically, I am hoping to find an open source eye-tracking analysis program, but it sounds like this is only possible through OpenSesame if I transfer everything to OpenSesame and start running my experiment through there... and if the gaze-contingency plugins are outdated, then I likely won't attempt this. I will look for a different solution - maybe OGAMA.
Thank you for your help,
