OpenSesame Buggy on Mac Laptops
Hi! I've been using OpenSesame on Mac laptops with high school students, and it is quite buggy. Experiments will not work on one laptop, quitting out with various error messages, but that same exact experiment will work on another Mac laptop (same version, etc.). Are there any fixes to this in place, or could this potentially be something to work on for the next release? We don't have the same problems on PC laptops- the Windows version seems to be more stable. Please let me know of any solutions or potential fixes for this- thanks so much!

Hi Anna,
We're aware that the Mac OS version is buggy on some systems. Some of these issues are hard for us to fix, because they are systemic problems in the underlying libraries used by OpenSesame. But some issues are within our reach to fix, and we try to address them.
So it would be helpful if you can be more specific, and describe the issues that you run into in as much detail as possible, including a description of the version of Mac OS!

My problems on MacOS (10.10.5) are:
1. I run the experiment, 2 instructions function well, but when I open the 3rd instruction: no characters are shown (empty page) or - sometimes - small rectangles instead of characters.
2. When the response has to be given the respective key (e.g. Y or N) has to be hit twice to get on.
Therefore I think of buying an windows tablet with Windows 10.
How can I know if the program will work on a given tablet?

These don't sound like problems with the Mac OS package per se, but simply a matter of setting up the experiment correctly.
So what I would is first familiarize yourself with OpenSesame by walking through one of the tutorials and reading the relevant documentation pages (such as about text). Then, if you're still unclear about how to resolve these issues, feel free to start a new discussion about them.
