[solved] Sampler audio is sped up?

Hello,

Hate to bombard the forum with questions, but I am having an issue playing audio files (they are .wav) in my experiment. The audio sounds fine when I play it through the file pool, but during the actual task it is sped up considerably. Under the sampler controls, the pitch is always set to 100 (which ought to be the original audio). I find that setting it to around 67% makes it sound pretty close to the original file, but this is not something I would want to rely on for an actual experiment. Thanks in advance for your help.

    That's what it's for!

    The playback sampling rate is fixed at 48Khz in OpenSesame 0.24. Your sound file probably has a different rate (33Khz?), which is why it sounds sped up. There are a few simple tricks to get around this:

    • Your own trick. Calculate the conversion factor (e.g., 33/48.1 = 0.6875 -> 68.75%) and adjust the pitch accordingly.

    • Resample your files to 48Khz using a tool such as Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

    • Try the latest OpenSesame 0.25 pre-release. This allows you to adjust the sampling rate of the OpenSesame mixer (but it's an unstable release!)

    I've also got problems with the sampling rate. I followed Sebastiaan's suggestion and tried editing the general script. The funny thing is that the general script already showed the new sampling rate!

    I solved the problem calculating the sampling difference as you advised mpaulin to do. That worked for me as well.
