Mousetrap_response start coordinates not working

Within the Mousetrap plugin, the start coordinates function is not working on Windows. It works fine on MacOS when running the same program.

What I would like it to do is to reset the cursor to coordinates (0;352) when the screen is shown. So even when someone clicked elsewhere in the previous screen, I would like them to start at that specific point.

As I read in the documentation, the "start coordinates" function (see image) normally does that, but this doesn't seem to work on Windows for me... Suggestions to fix it or to do it differently?

    Hi there,

    it should work under Windows as well. Which backend are you using? The mousetrap plugin should be used in combination with the xpyriment or legacy back-end. (it works in principle with the psychopy backend as well - with the notable exception that the mouse cursor cannot be reset in this backend).

    Besides, are you running the experiment in fullscreen or in window mode? Sometimes resetting the mouse does not work in window mode (which is usually only used for testing purposes in mouse-tracking experiments).

    Hi Pascal,

    Thanks for the quick response! I'm using the legacy back-end while running the experiment fullscreen. The xpyriment back-end only resets the cursor to the middle of the screen (0;0) and the experiment seems to get slower when using that back-end.

    hm, that's strange. Which OpenSesame version are you using? And does the screen resolution set in the experiment settings correspond to the resolution of the computer screen?

    Hi Pascal,

    I was working on an older version before (3.1.9) but now I installed the newest version (3.2.4) but the problem still occurs. The resolution of both my screen and the experiment are set to 1024x768.

    I am actually doing all the same things as on MacOS and that works so I'm a bit confused on where this problem comes from.

    Hi Lisa,

    you can also stay with the old version if you want to (if you use the new OpenSesame version, please be sure to install the latest development version of mousetrap).

    However, none of this should influence the ability to reset the mouse cursor. Would you mind posting your experiment here or sending it to me via email (kieslich@psychologie.uni-mannheim.de) so I can check it? It can also be a reduced version that just contains the stimulus screen/sketchpad and the mousetrap_response item.
