Installing parallel port card in SMI iViewX workstation
Does anyone have experience installing a PCI parallel port card in the SMI iViewX workstation (the black box computer)?
Before SMI disappeared into Apple, a tech support fellow told me just to buy any standard card & install it carefully. I naively didn't ask him how or where to install the card.
I can't see any slot on the front or back that looks like it might take a card--and I don't know what to look for if I should open it up.
Thanks!

Hi Russel,
Yes, you need to open it up. A PCI card is something that goes inside the computer.
But do you really need a parallel port? They are awfully old-fashioned and hard to use. If it's just for eye tracking, then you probably need it.

Unfortunately, I think I do. I need parallel ports to send TTL pulses from the stimulus computer to the eyetracker and an EEG recorder so I can sync the data. Unless somebody knows of a better method--I'm told USB is not accurate enough.
