Mousetrap mouse trajectory tracking in web
Hi there,
For a visual world study I am about to conduct, I am exploring the possibilies of mousetracking in the browser enviroment of OpenSesame. So far, it seems to me the Mousetrap plug-in is not compatible with running the experiment from a server. Can anyone confirm this, or maybe point me in the direction of a possible solution?
I must admit I am not experienced with coding in any language, so may be slow to understand certain suggestions. However, I will try my best! :)
Regards,
Jelmer

Hi Jelmer,
Yes, unfortunately you are right. The mouse trap plugin is not available at the moment and as I understood won't be any time soon.
As you can also create and access the mouse item through the javascript_inline_script, I have no advice to give you on how to achieve this. Perhaps @sebastiaan can help?
Sorry,
Eduard
Hi Jelmer,
as Eduard already pointed out (thanks for the answer!) there is unfortunately currently no online support of the mousetrap-plugin for OSWeb. However, Eduard is completely right that you probably write your own javascript solution to implement mouse-tracking yourself in OSWeb.
As another alternative, Felix Henninger and I (mostly Felix) are currently working on a mousetrap plugin for lab.js (https://lab.js.org/), another free online study builder. The beta version of the plugin was included in its latest release as of version 20.0.0 (https://github.com/FelixHenninger/lab.js/releases), so you can already use it in the builder (https://labjs.felixhenninger.com/). However, there is currently no online documentation available as far as I recall - if you are interested you could reach out to Felix (@mezzopiano), so he could provide you with a preview.
Best,
Pascal
