[solved] mouse cursor not visible
Hei All,
I have designed an experiment with a mouclick response. The participants will hear two short audio clips and choose which one describes the scene better. I have set the mouse cursor to be visible in the response, but it is not. It is important to have it visible because the participants have to be aware of where they are clicking.
I also included a touch response in case the participants are doing the task on a tablet, the cursor is set to visible also there. Could the two types of responses be interfering? I did try removing the touch response, but the cursor was still not visible.
I also would not mind if the cursor was visible at all times, if this was the alternative.
Does anyone know what could cause the cursor not to be visible? Thank you

Hi,
(I'm helping Marta sort out some issues with her study.) An important detail here is that the experiment has to be exported to OSWeb. The proposed solution - inline Python script - is not supported by OSWeb, and inline Javascript doesn't support the creation of a mouse object.
Right, that is a problem. You might try a different backend, but beyond that I am also out of answers. Sorry!

Hi All,
Thank you for the suggestions. I tired all available beckends with no result. In all my mouseclick responses the visibility of the cursor is set to yes, and yet the cursor is never visible.
I would really appreciate any kind of advice as this has been delaying my research for way too long.

Can you attach the experiment here? If in none of the backends the mouse cursor is visible, then I suspect that it's something in the logic of the experiment. But without actually seeing the experiment we cannot tell!

Hi Sebastiaan, sorry for the late reply. I have changed the experiment to collect a keyboard response, so that was my workaround. I also decided to go for the keyboard response because children are less proficient with the use of the mouse (due to touchscreens), so it was just easier to set up two response keys.
