Sampler volume
in OpenSesame
Hi there,
I would like to know how the sampler volume parameter exactly works. That is, how does it transform the amplitude of the original file? Does it simply apply a multiplicative factor to the sample values, or is there some log transormation somewhere? (I am running it into OSWeb, but I suppose it is the same as in OS?)
NB: I know the volume is supposed to be betwen 0 and 1, but it looks like it also supports values abve 1, when entered in the script. I think that's a useful feature.
Many thanks,
David

Hi @DavKzo ,
Good question! Can you help out @sebastiaan ?

Hi @DavKzo ,
Each sample of a sound file has an amplitude, and this amplitude is simply multiplied with the volume parameter of OpenSesame. So no log transformation is involved! (This would distort the sound, and not simply change the volume.)
In OSWeb, the volume is changed using a
GainNode(on the desktop the transformation is done differently):-- Sebastiaan

Great, thanks for the clarification!
