JASP vs. SPSS differences
Hello,
I have computed a Bayes Factor for the same Repeated Measures ANOVA (2 levels) uing both SPSS and JASP and there are different results.
Also SPSS gives always the same result and JASP in each run sliglthy different.
These are exactly the same data.
I dont understand what are the differences between these two, maybe the used methods differ but I could not figure it out from the criteria since both softwares have slightly different inferfaces and options to select.
If anyone can say sth, I would be grateful.

Hi Mary,
SPSS appears to be using the BIC approximation. This often works well, but what we (JASP and BayesFactor) are trying to do is a little more sophisticated and precise, or so we like to think.
Cheers,

Dear EJ,
Thank you for your answer. I am afraid I am not well familiar with the different methods. What kind of method/algorithm is then used by JASP? I didnt find it anywhere.
Maria
We use the method as implemented in the BayesFactor R package, which is based on the JZS prior. If you go to the help file (press the blue circle with the "i" in the input panel) you'll find the references at the end. Key is this one:
Rouder, J.N., Morey R.D., Speckman P.L., & Province J M. (2012). Default Bayes factors for ANOVA designs. Journal of Mathematical Psychology, 56, 356-374.

Many thanks for the answer!
