Bug New version OpenSesame
Hello,
Since I downloaded the new version of Open Sesame, I get a error message when I try to launch the study from the software. The message reads "no sounds lib could be loaded" and "TypeError: 'FailedToGetWorkspaceVariable' object is not iterable". I should add that no sound files are used in this experiment. It also interesting to note that this happens only when launching the desktop open sesame study and not when using osWeb which I intend to use for this study.
Thank you in advance for helping me resolve this issue.

Hi @Jaiden_Camryn ,
What version of OpenSesame and operating system are you using exactly?
It also interesting to note that this happens only when launching the desktop open sesame study and not when using osWeb which I intend to use for this study.
OSWeb, the only runtime, is entirely different software. And both of these error messages are specific to the desktop software.

Hello Sebastiaan,
Thank you very much for your reply. I am using OpenSesame 3.3.8 on Windows 10 pro. If this does not affect the OSWeb version, then I can go ahead and start collecting data.
Cheers,
Jaiden
Hi @Jaiden_Camryn ,
You can go ahead indeed, but it would be even better to update to 3.3.9! This also has some useful improvements to the OSWeb compatibility check.

Will do! Thank you very much.

Just to add to this thread, I was experiencing the same/similar issue this morning.
I found that after I plugged my laptop into another screen, and maybe it was purely coincidental, but the setting "run experiment in a separate process (multiprocess)" had changed to ""run experiment in a separate process (external)".
Simply changing it back fixed the issue.
