Weird looking fonts in online experiments

Hello,

I created a lexical decision task including Turkish words. Although capital Turkish letters like "Ğ" and "Ş" look fine in offline experiments, they look weird when I run them in my browser through OSWeb.

Any solutions for that?

This looks fine ("Ş" letter) in the offline experiment.

This is the experiment I run with my browser, "Ş" letter looks weird:

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi @reversemoonwalk ,

Right, I see it as well. I will take a look at what is causing this. I also noticed a separate issue, where the 'Ş' character wasn't properly parsed as part of the word. (But that doesn't seem to affect you.)

As a workaround for now, you can select a custom font through "Other ..." in the font-selection box; this will allow you to select a font that is installed on your computer but that is not bundled with OpenSesame. For me, for example, FreeSans shows all the characters correctly. Do try out the experiment on different operating systems to ensure that it's properly displayed everywhere, though, because not all fonts are available on all operating systems!
