Use letters in subject_nr

Hey all, we are using OpenSesame for a big experiment with a lot of data levels (groups within classes, within school etc) and our subject numbers reflect these levels and contain numbers and letters. We would like to write them as such when OpenSesame asks for subject number when iniciating the experiment however, in that step it seems to only allow numbers. Is there anyway in which we can make for the variable subject_nr to allow also strings??

Thank you very much in advance!

  • Hi @patt24 ,

The subject number cannot contain anything but digits. But you could choose a multidigit number that reflects these different levels. Or you could use the same subject number for everyone, ask for an identifier at the very start of the experiment, for example with a form_text_input item, and then use that instead of the subject number. Do any of those options work for you?
