Not sure about the model I need to use: A Bayesian repeated measures of ANOVA or Mixed ANOVA model?

edited March 2022 in JASP & BayesFactor

I have ran my analysis in .jasp for the first time and have some questions about it. I would be thankful of your help.

As you can see from my .jasp window I have shared, I am doing a repeated measures of ANOVA with two within subject factors (speed: with 5 levels / and target position: with 2 levels). I did the analysis once within the Bayesian framework and one time with the classical test.

As I only have 5 participants I would like to have my participants (i.e., PartID) as my between subject factor. Firstly, I want to know if my approach to consider my participants as between-subject factor is fine? and secondly I want to be sure how to name my model then. A mixed ANOVA model? as I added a between-subject factor to the data.

My next question: if I add participants as my between-subject factor in classical test, I receive an error in test of sphericity. Also, P and F values are given as NaN values and I have no idea what is the reason of it? I also attached two more images of the error and NaN values.

Thank you so much for your help in advance.

  • Dear PariShad,

I don't think you need to add subjects as a between-subjects factor; the analysis should automatically do this. [As an aside, with only 5 participants, I wonder whether it even makes sense to conduct this analysis at all -- I hope you have very many trials per participant, so you'd be in the psychophysics world; there is would make more sense to analyse the participants individually.]

    Cheers,
