Triggers on the EEG device

Hi there

I hope you are well.

I am running a study in which number of picture and sound are presented simultaneously to participants. I am using an EEG device to record the brain waves. I want to have triggers for each of the pictures/sounds to the EEG device to be sent from another PC (the presentation PC).

I have the port named COM 5 on the presentation device and a trigger box connecting both PCs with a USB socket and a 3.5 mm socket (like the hands free audio jack).

I was trying to implement the procedure explained in the following link, and no chance yet:

https://osdoc.cogsci.nl/2.8.3/devices/triggers/#:~:text=Triggers%20can%20be%20sent%20with,that%20the%20trigger%20is%20on.

Any advice or comments on how to send triggers for ERP on the EEG device would be greatly appreciated.

Peace,

Masoud

    Hi @mfp49 ,

The first step would be to clarify what your set-up looks like and how the different parts are connected. You mention a 'trigger box'. What kind of device is that exactly, and what kind of input does it expect? Do you have examples from other studies (not necessarily in OpenSesame) of how to send triggers to the trigger box?

It used to be that EEG triggers were almost always sent through a parallel-port connection (either a real one, or an emulated one through USB). However, nowadays there are many different systems, so let's first be sure that we understand how your system works.
