413 Request Entity Too Large - Jatos/Mindprobe

Hi! I have an experiment with dozens of videos that sums up to 1.4GB (we are working with sign languages, so all stimuli and instructions are videos).

I used jspych and managed to export the experiment using my local server, but when I try to import the jzip file to mindprobe I get the error message "413 Request Entity Too Large 413 Request Entity Too Large nginx/1.18.0 (Ubuntu)"

Is there something that can be done? Or is my experiment just to heavy and I should give up and just run it locally?

Extra info: results will be just text, nothing too heavy. We will not record videos during the experiment.

  • Hi @mahagodoy ,

Yes, that's indeed too large for MindProbe. It's not technically impossible to host experiments that size, but it would consume more resources than we are able to provide for free. I see two options:

    • Host the videos externally, for example on YouTube, and then embed them in the experiment through an HTML form. That way the experiment itself will stay small and you can run it on MindProbe without issue. This is probably the option that I would consider first.
    • Set up your own JATOS server. If you need help with that, you can also contact our professional support.

    Good luck!

  • Thank you, @sebastiaan!

Hosting the videos on youtube is such a simple idea! How have I not thought about it before? It is working perfectly (for) now. Thanks!
