Filter Cases

edited October 2024 in JASP & BayesFactor

Hello,

I understand that JASP Data Editor allows filtering for variables and cases. However, I would like to know if it is possible to define filters specifically within the analysis section for each individual analysis.

For example, could I apply a filter such as "age > 50 and sex = female" for a descriptive analysis?

Additionally, when performing an unpaired t-test, instead of selecting two separate variables for comparison (e.g., blood pressure group 1 and blood pressure group 2), would it be possible to use a single variable (blood pressure) but apply separate filters for each group? For instance, could group 1 have the filter "age > 50 and medication = 0" and group 2 have "age < 50 and medication = 0"?

I am aware that such selections are for example available in MedCalc (medcalc.be). Here is an example of how filters work in medcalc:

  • Dear all,

If this is not achievable with the current version of JASP, would you recommend posting it as a feature suggestion on GitHub? Alternatively, is this something I could easily accomplish by entering a few lines of R code in JASP, despite having no prior knowledge of R?

    Thank you for your assistance.

  • This issue is very much on our radar -- in fact I believe it is currently being worked on. If you go to our GitHub page you should be able to find this issue, and you can indicate you value its implementation.

  • Also, I found the issue and added the information you provided: https://github.com/jasp-stats/jasp-issues/issues/1330

  • thank you @EJ - I have added an additional comment on github to further elaborate my feature suggestion. I hope this makes things clearer.
