Unknown error possibly due to feedback iten

Hi everyone!

I am currently making a task in which a participant needs to judge whether an item is AI-generated or human-created and I want to add a feedback item after the experimental trial, but it keeps giving me an unknown error. I am not sure what I did wrong. I can open the experiment and do the practice trial, but after the final practice stimulus, it just crashes and gives me the following error message:

I tried substituting my feedback item by a sketchpad (that has helped in the past), but that makes things worse and I can't even open the experiment with that item.

My experiment and feedback screen currently look like this:

To clarify, the trial sequence in the experimental loop block is a linked copy of the trial sequence in the practice trial. At the very end of the experiment, I want my participants to see a feedback screen so we can "gamify" the experiment for festivals.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Best,

Valerie

  • Hi @VQ_QV

This kind of error generally indicates an issue with the underlying Python process or associated libraries, not your experiment's code (see Debugging // OpenSesame documentation).

Have you tried updating to the latest version of OpenSesame or switching to a different backend?

    Cheers

  • Hi @cvanbuck

I tried the experiment on Windows (because I already had the latest version on my mac) and it gave me a more elaborate error message, so I was able to fix the issue. The backend tip also really helps! It crashed with PsychoPy, but Expyriment now works!

Thank you so much for your answer!

    Best,

    Valerie
