  Hi Timo,

  We've just started working on a german translation for OpenSesame.

  Thank you, that's really cool.

  A loop in an experiment (that works, when using the en_EN gui) gives back an error message: "not enough arguments for format string".

  This happens when you remove one of the wildcards from a translation. For example, if you translate ...

  Tell me more about the %s item

  ... by ...

  Vertel me meer

  ... you will get this type of error, because of the missing %s in the translation. Since this is a quite common source of problems, there's an automated validation script included with the source code (dev-scripts/check_ts.py). So if you have everything set up, you can run this script to debug your translation. Or you can commit/ send the translation file, in which case I'll fix it (it's easy), and you can continue working on the translation.

  Consider it my way to say "Thank you" for your great work. But maybe we shouldn't count the eggs before the hen is born...

  Thank you for your helpful answer. The wildcard problem is solved now. I'll keep testing and revising the translation and send a pull request when i'm done.

  Hi Timo,

  I'm starting to round things up for 2.8.2, a minor bugfix release. It would be nice to include the German translation, if possible. Do you think it would be feasible to send a pull request in the next two weeks or so? Don't worry if it's not yet completely perfect, you can just continue to polish it for future releases.

  Hi Sebastiaan,

  Maybe the pull request via Github didn't work out, so here is a short notice: Translation is complete. Though there are some issues with it, which likewise apply to all other translations.

  Hi Timo,

  I see two repositories on GitHub, researchtool/OpenSesame (i.e. a fork of the main repo) and researchtool/OpenSesame_de_DE (containing only the translation files). The latest commits are to researchtool/OpenSesame, but it looks like this repo has either been deleted or set to private. Where should I get the latest translation files from?

  Though there are some issues with it, which likewise apply to all other translations.

  Are these the issues that you filed under the issue tracker of researchtool/OpenSesame_de_DE? If they are general translation issues, please feel free to file them as issues in the main repo. (Even if you're not entirely sure whether they are really bugs. We can always close them.)

  Thanks for your effort, I'm sure we can get this into 2.8.3!

  Sorry for being unclear about that. I deleted the fork (which was just for testing purposes) and the recent translation files are in researchtool/OpenSesame.

  Yes, the issues are general translation issues, which also appear in other translations. I'm busy the next days, but will definitely write them down and file them in your Git Repo.

  Hi Timo,

  Ah right, I see! Since you're working on GitHub already, perhaps you could fork OpenSesame, add resources/ts/de_DE.ts (not the .qm) and send me a pull request. That way you'll be included as a contributor, giving you a little bit of extra visible credit. But it's no problem for me to just grab the .ts from your repo and add it myself, so if you think it's a hassle then I'll do that.
