  Hi Katerina,

  You need to either specify the full path to opensesame or run this command from the folder that contains opensesame. Otherwise Windows won't find the file. Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to create a so-called Batch file in the OpenSesame folder (let's call it run_opensesame.bat) that contains the following command:

  c:\Python26\python.exe opensesame --pylink
  

  If the batch file is in the same folder as opensesame itself, this should work.

  I have tried to run it from the same directory where open sesame is and it didn't work.

  Hi Katerina,

  Two stupid questions, to confirm that you've done what I think you've done:

  1) Have you installed OpenSesame's source, or have you used the installer?

  2) Is your batch file located in the OpenSesame directory, where the file opensesame is located? If not: move your batch file to the folder containing both opensesame and opensesamerun, and you should be fine.

  Another solution would be to include the full path to OpenSesame in the batch file. In the example below, we assume you have a folder called opensesame, in which the script opensesame is located.

  "C:\Python26\python.exe" "C:\opensesame\opensesame" --pylink

  Dear Edwin,

  Answers to your questions:
  1) yes, source with SDL.
  2) yes both in same directory.

  I have tried all the solutions you have suggested and the error I get is:
  File "opensesame.bat", line 1
  c:\Python27\python.exe opensesame
  ^
  SyntaxError: invalid syntax

  I really do not understand where the problem lies. Any ideas?

  We now modified the batch file command into:
  "c:\Python27\python.exe" "opensesame.exe"
  then it gives no error. But it does not do anything, or at least it does not start opensesame.

  I would be very thankful for any input on this.

  Dear Katerina,

  What are you using to run the batch file? The error looks like a Python error, whereas a batch file is Windows coding. That is: you can simply double-click it, and it should open a command prompt in which all the commands that are in your batch file are run.

  Hi guys,
  I want to use the eye-tracker plug in for my experiment too (it consists of a unique inline_script, and I use Psychopy backend).
  I tried the Python portable version but when I open the experiment it does not recognize pieces of script as self.time() or win.flip()
  The error is: self is undefined, win is undefined.
  What could be the solution?

  Then I moved to Opensesame running from source, but I'm stuck in the first step.
  Can anybody explain in full details how to do the first step? Those few lines in the documentation area are not clear to me.

  Hi Ambra,

  Do you mean that the script editor tells you that the variables are undefined, or does an actual error occur? In principle, the code should run as long as you use the psycho back-end, regardless of the warning messages in the inline_script editor.

  To run from source, download all the packages listed on this page (under Dependencies). Click on the links, go to the Download pages (if the link does not direct you to a download page immediately), and download the correct version for your platform (e.g. Windows; also make sure to select the 32-bit version rather than the 64-bit version whenever you are provided with both options). Then run the downloaded installer.

  Hi Edwin,

  actually the Python portable version works even though I have these errors in the script editor.
  Today I tried it in my eye tracker lab, I wanted to see whether pyGaze was able to interface with the Eyelink 1000 we have. However, it did not.
  The Eyelink 1000 is now connected to the stimulation pc and the eyelink pc through a software called Track (ethernet connection). Do you think there could be interferences with this system? What would be the proper setup (how many pc, what connenction)?

  To run from source, do I have to download installers, not zip files, and then run the installers?

  Hi all,

  Think you will have to add .py in the batch file so it will look something like:
  c:\Python26\python.exe open sesame.py --pylink

  @ambraferrari: I just setup an lab with PyGaze and an EyeLink 1000 with no problems using this: http://osdoc.cogsci.nl/devices/eyelink/
