[open] GUI not responding (Serial recall experiment)
Hello Sebastiaan,
First of all, thank you for this great tool. I started to use it for my BA paper and it's highly useful!
I am experiencing some problems with the GUI. To be clear I will try to give as many details as possible and upload the code below.
I am running WIN 8.1 x64 and I am trying to make a serial recall task for an experiment on memory. I am presenting 10 lists of 11 words each as follows:
- main_instructions -> present_list_0 -> how_to_type_instructions -> collect_list_0 -> announcing_next_list_instructions -> ... until all 10 lists are presented and collected
To create this I used 20 loops and a bunch of other plugins and now everything is unstable. For instance, if I want to add anything the program stops responding for about 15 minutes (if I try to permanently delete all unused items it takes more than 30 minutes).
I read about a similar case on forums when someone designed a complicated experiment but couldn't find a suitable workaround. I think the fault is in the way I used the plugins. Can you, please, give me a hint how to get out of this situation and be able to add or delete things inside my experiment? I am pretty desperate because at the end of the weekend I have to present the procedure in front of the committee and I can't figure out how to get it working...
Here's what I've done:

Thank you very much,

Hi Mihai,
There have been substantial performance improvements in OpenSesame recently. Are you running the latest version (2.9.1 right now)? If not, I would first update and see if things become usable again.
Your experiment is a bit large, but I can open and run it without any trouble.
Cheers!
Sebastiaan

I checked and I am running 2.9.1 version. I also did a fresh install. The problem is not when it comes to running the experiment, but when I want to edit it in OpenSesame. And I am trying to figure out what I am doing wrong. Is it because of the size of the experiment?
Hi Mihai,
I just checked it under Windows (I normally use Linux), and you're right: It's really unacceptably slow. This is due to the size of your experiment, but it still shouldn't happen (it's not that large after all). I'll see if I can figure out where the bottleneck is, and why performance is so different between Windows and Linux.
Cheers,
Sebastiaan

Hi Sebastiaan,
I tried to edit my experiment on a friends's MAC and it worked smoothly. I just saw there was a new release 2.9.2. I will try it to see how things go!
Thank you very much for you answer and patience!
Mihai
