Hi Rotem,
I can't see which error you mean, because before I bump into them, Opensesame complains about the images that are missing (Your instructions and stuff). Maybe you can upload the *.opensesame.tar.gz file?
Thanks,
Eduard
Hi Rotem,
Also, if you receive an error message, please post the actual error and a clear and detailed description of your problem! You will generally find a complete error message in the debug window.
Cheers,
Sebastiaan

Hey, I managed to fix the problems and now the exp works.
There are two more things:
1. I put a sketchpad for brake after every 50 trials and i would like to exclude it before the instructions of the second block (they are counterbalanced between them) and before the end message. For now i asked open-sessame to run it if "[count_speed_sequence]%50=49". What do i need to add in order to do that?
2. In the manipulation block i put a "too slow" feedback which should relate to the R.T from my first measurment block. Right now the feedback should appear if "[response_time]>[avg_rt] and [correct]=1". How could i specify it to be calculated from the measurment block only?
Just for case, this is my exp http://pastebin.com/yhzHSu0J
Thanks you,
Rotem
Hi,
What you can do is adding more conditions, e.g. "[count_speed_sequence]%50=49 and [count_speed_sequence]%150!=0", or whatever your criteria are (sorry, I haven't completely understood them).
In the end of this block you can set a new variable with the value of the average response time and use this new variable henceforth to compare the current reaction time to.
Good luck,
Eduard
Thanks for your answer.
I have two conditions regarding the "brake" message- not to be presented before the instructions of the second block and not before the "end" message at the end of the exp.
I'm not sure how to phrase it.
Regarding the average RT of my measurement block- can you please specify how should i implement this.
Rotem
How about you count the number your
block_sequence
is executed and prevent the "brake" message to show up for certain blocks. Each item in Opensesame has the
count_[item_name]
attribute. So what you can do is something like that:Run if "count_[block_sequence] !=2 and count_[block_sequence] != -1"
# "-1" indicates the last block
You'll probably have to adapt the code a bit to make it work. You can also have a look on the documentation page for variables. Maybe you find something interesting there.
Good luck,
Eduard
Hello, I have two manipulation blocks named differently so i think i can't use the count_[block_sequence]. I defined my brake message after evey 50 trials as follows: "Run if [count_accuracy_sequence]%50=49". Now i just need to exclude trial 500. What addition do i need to add?
Regarding my second question- I have a "too slow" feedback defined to be presented as follows: "Run if [response_time]>[avg_rt] and [correct]=1". I need the avg response time to be collected from my first measurment block. Is this the correct way?
Thanks Rotem
Hi,
I can't say whether this is correct or not, I know too little about your experiment to judge this. But why don't you test it? Do a few test trials, in which you control the avg response time (more or less) and see whether the experiment behaves how you expect it to. In principal, what you have to make sure is that your variable
[avg_rt]
won't get updated after the critical block is over. Like I suggested earlier, you can do this by add a piece of code in the end of this block, which is executed in the very end of it. In there you define your "own" average response time, which will be independent from opensesame's built-in one.e.g.
Since this code is executed only once (if you implement it correctly), this variable shouldn't change from then on.
A similar thing you can do to solve this. If opensesame has no built-in counter that will serve you properly, you can define one yourself, in pretty much the same way as you define your avg_rt. So, on every trial you can update a counter variable by adding "one". So that you only have to add
counter_variable != 500
to yourrun if
statement to make sure that your brake statement is not presented then.Hope this helped.

Hey Eduard,
The problem has been solved. Your answers were very helpful.
Thanks,
