[solved] Audio loudness in windows 7
I have put the loudness settings of my audio samples in the opensesame code, so the master volume settings in Windows XP did not affect the loudness of my experiment. Recently, all lab computers were upgraded to Windows 7. This version of Windows for some reason creates an OpenSesame volume controller, which does affect the loudness of the sound samples in my experiment regardless of the code. Is anyone familiar with this problem? And, if so, can I see the number/volume setting of this volume controller as a percentage of full (100%) loudness?

Hi Kim,
It seems like the difference is simply that Windows 7 doesn't treat all audio as a single stream, but has a different stream for each program. This is not specific to OpenSesame, there will probably be a slider for each program that plays audio. Why is this a problem? You don't need to use the slider if you don't want to, right?
Cheers,
Sebastiaan

Hi Sebastiaan,
I was afraid that if someone else would use the system slider, it could affect my measurements if I did not notice it the next time. If have done some measurements with a dB-meter and it turns out that nothing is wrong when you do not touch the slider. The initial setting of the system volume does not affect OS's output
