[solved] Plugin error on Windows (OS Version 0.27.3)

edited June 2015 in OpenSesame

Hi,
when I tried to open my experiment I got the error message: failed load plugin text_display.

The experiment worked the other day and since then I only tried to update opensesame as this is still the version from a couple of years ago. The PC is usually not connected to the Internet, that's why it's still the old version. I'm not sure though if the update worked alright, as in the folder where OpenSesame is installed some folders are still dated with 2013 and other with 2015. The .exe is also from 2013. Does that make a difference?
Does anyone know what could be the problem with this?

I had a similar problem when I tried to install the parallel_port plugin, only that opensesame wouldn't open at all. So I deleted that plugin again and it was working again.
Also I don't know whether the path to the plugins is correct, but I can't change it in the settings. Does that have to do with the older version?

I hope that someone understood my problem and can help me. Thanks!

    Hi,

This sounds like something went wrong while updating. It should be easy to restore though.

If you have done nothing special with the OpenSesame installation (i.e. didn't manually change anything in the OpenSesame program folder), you can just delete the whole folder, or use the uninstaller. Then you run the latest OpenSesame installer, and you have a brand new installation.

If you don't have an internet connection, you can also just put the installer on a USB stick, and run it from there.

    Does that help at all?

    Cheers,
    Sebastiaan
