Best tablet to buy to run OpenSesame experiments?

Hi,

I am starting a new line of research. The tasks are programmed and run on the tablet that I have to test with. Now I need to buy the hardware for the actual experiment. Which tablet is recommended and will make OpenSesame run smoothly? I'd preferably have one that has a 9" screen.

Thanks!

    Hi Florian,

In principle, any Android 2.3 or higher device should work. I personally have a Nexus 9, which is pretty awesome, and which I know works fine with the OpenSesame runtime for Android. On the cheaper end of the spectrum, I'm also quite happy with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.

    Cheers,

    Hi Florian,

I'm workin with a Nexus 7 (2012) and a Asus MeMo Pad 7 (2014). The Nexus has a better overall performance, as expected for that price. But, for some reason the OpenSesame runtime performs somewhat better and more consistent on the Asus, so that might be a nice budget option.

To add to that, just in case accurate timing is a factor, I did some testing with Sebastiaan's timing script on both devices and found that the Asus has a much better frame presentation accuracy and consistency than the Nexus. Of course, both remain far from ideal compared to the timing on regular back-ends.

    Thanks for the input, guys.

After consulting with the technician at the department, I'll order the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3.

I'll report back on eventual problems. I hope there'll be nothing to report. :)
